SOBRIQUET ‘BENIGHTED’
I received an email from Sobriquet months in advance of the shoot for their upcoming single ‘Benighted’. I quickly discovered that these lads were a creative bunch with a strong idea of what they wanted. We developed the narrative and visuals for the video together among a few meetings in the weeks prior to the shoot, and although we had to go back to the drawing board once or twice, by the time the shoot day rolled around, we were confident in our plan. The shoot was 2 days long. First day being narrative, and single performance shots. The narrative turned out to be a complex and time consuming issue. We had to have each actor/actress go in for make up half way through their performance but couldn’t move the set from their scene onto the next one because of continuity. So we decided that in the make up gap, we should shoot all the single performance shots while waiting. This lead to literally 10 hours of constantly shooting for me personally without a break, with next to no lunch. It was a very physically demanding shoot to say the least. The outcome however speaks for itself…
