SYSLOSIS ‘I SEVER’
It seems like time sensitive shoots and extremely short deadlines are a running theme for me, but when you get asked to shoot a music video for the come back of a band you have admired for years, you sort of don’t turn that down. Sylosis manager and friend, Adam Foster approached me to shoot a video for the Sylosis return. The shoot was a few days after the shoot I had with a band called Sobriquet, so I had to put their edit on hold (the guys were very understanding and can’t thank them enough for their patience) and start planning. I was put in charge of project managing the whole shoot, and had to pull in favours from touring friends to help me pull off the ‘big production’ look that the band wanted for this video. On top of the day being tight for time anyway, I had to shoot all the wide shots, drumming and rhythm guitar shots within 3 hours as drummer Ali and guitarist Bailey had to leave. THEN, got told that the video had to be delivered in 5 days! This came at a time when my own band ‘While She Sleeps’ had a single coming out that we were building an exhibition for. The days editing this video were spent in 6am wake ups spending 6 hours on their edit, leaving to build the Sleeps exhibition at midday, get back home around 9pm and have around 4 more hours of editing time until I would go to bed and repeat the next day. I raised the bar for myself in being able to achieve so much is so little time. Now I have an entirely new threshold for my work load…
