HAVELOCKE ‘FACELESS’
The schedule of this video on paper, was quite unrealistic to achieve. There was only a day set out to shoot the narrative and 6 hours set out to shoot the performance. Undeterred, I naively set my alarm for 6am the day of the narrative shoot. The narrative would have been a breeze, however all 6 or so locations were set quite a while apart from each other. Plus having to shoot it in public areas meant alot of waiting around. We shot from sun rise to sun set, with just me, my assistant Volca Media and the Actor George. By the end of the day we were absolutely worn out, but we got all the shots we needed. I’m still not sure quite how we pulled it off. The premiss of the video is supposed to be a psychotic episode being had by the main character, seeing the world and people around him as mannequins when they really aren’t. This is supposed to symbolise the lyrical content of the song dealing with anxiety and depression. When we feel extreme lows of depression we feel a disconnect from anyone and everyone around us, which is where the idea of using mannequins to represent this came from.
